As August brings us the final chapters of hot Summer nights, local racing and the climax of the
NASCAR race to the chase, we also have the new Auto World XT Series 7 release to enjoy. The new cars are mounted up on the Auto World X-Traction Ultra G chassis. A pancake design with a little extra gripping power from a Neo-dot traction magnet located in the lower rear of the chassis. The samples I received were packaged in the new jewel cases with the clam shell packing on the inside, holding everything nicely secure. These are easier to remove and the cars arrived clean and clear, no scratches or jostled bodies in the package.
This release brought us three completely new bodies, one previous body in a new format and two previous bodies with new paint schemes. The three new bodies are the Chevy Camaro Concept Car, the Dodge Challenger Concept Car and the VW Samba Van. The “new” car in a new format is the 2007 Dodge Charger, but this time tricked out as a police car, two toned, decaled and with a roof rack full of lights and sirens. The two previous releases are the 2004 C5 Corvette, now two toned and striped and the 2003 Dodge Racing Viper, with numbers, sponsors, new colors and strips. Each release comes in two color combinations, along with an iWheels series and are available now, through your favorite hobby retailer or direct from Auto World via their web site.
I can picture lots of customizing possibilities here with these new goodies. Maybe a modern version of the Sunoco Camaro, or a #76 T/A Challenger in the more up to date skin? And the light bar on the Charger police car will be a great component for a pace car. And of course the VW would be great at the tailgate parties!
So let me cut the chatter and let these beauties start talking for themselves!
Auto World Xtraction #37 Chevy Camaro Concept
Originally made for the Concept Challenge Race Set, the Concept Camaro captures the lines and grace of the 1:1 car wonderfully. It has a nice low stance and looks like it’s ready to jump off the line sitting still. Pictured below is the Orange and Black Striped version on the top and the solid silver on the bottom. There’s even a very slick “5TH GEN” license plate showing off the lineage!
Auto World Xtraction #38 Dodge Challenger Concept
Like the Concept Camaro, the Concept Challenger was also originally made for the Concept Challenge Race Set. Another nice and low stance and well laid lines make this car look ready for the road or strip. As seen in the pictures below, the car on the top is orange with flat black striping and the one on the bottom is red with the same stripe layout. Both cars have the “HEMI” logo on the hood stripes and “Challenger” on the rear quarters. The orange version also has a “Concept” license plate, not found on the red version.
Auto World Xtraction #39 2006 Dodge Charger Police Car
Based on the previously released street Charger, this new item comes with a two-tone paint scheme, police logos and call number, light bars and siren and a nerf bumper across the front grill. All the details are still there with nice clear tampos marking the police and badge/star logos on the door, head and tail lights, along with Dodge logos on the hood and deck lids as well as Charger scripts on the trunk. The car on the top is showing the black and white color scheme, the one on the bottom is a deep royal blue and white. Looks like the sheriff from the Dodge Boys is back in town!
Auto World Xtraction #40 2004 Corvette CSR
This is another previous release from Series 6. This time the Vette is sporting a new two-tone paint scheme accentuating the broad sides of this racing design. In the pictures below, the car on the top is red and white with a pinstripe of black separating the two main colors. The one on the bottom is black and white with a red pinstripe. Details include a crisp Vette logo on the hood, along with detailed head lights, brake vents and radiator vent.
Auto World Xtraction #41 2003 Dodge Viper Competition Coupe
New paint and details liven up this previous release of the snake from Dodge. Additional details in the form of sponsors logos, racing numbers and stripes have been added this time around. The Viper on the top is black with white stripes with a thin silver stripes separating the two. The one on the bottom is white with metallic blue stripes with that same silver hairline stripe in place around the blue.
Auto World Xtraction #42 VW Samba Bus
Based on the 21 window Samba or Microbus, this new body style is a welcome addition as is most any VW item. The detail of the engine venting, roof windows and panel lines are crisp and clean. The two tone paint schemes are nicely separated by a black pinstripe running around the van and coming to a nice point right under the VW logo on the nose. Nice extras are the detailed hinge points on all of the doors and hatches and a nice “Volkswagen” script on the rear hatch door. The van pictured on the top is a cream yellow and white, while the one on the bottom is a deep metallic green and white.
Along with the A and B versions in this release, Auto World released a collectors “iWheels” series in pearl white with various trim colors.
