1970 was the beginning a decade of seismic changes in the wake of the even more turbulent 1960’s. 1970 carried the automotive banner with ever more horsepower, wilder colors and styles that are some of the most classic of the era. 1970 was the beginning of the last hurrah for building of cars with power for the sake of power. In a short 4 years, emission regulations, gas shortages and the insurance world would put a stranglehold on performance factory cars for better than a decade. We had Ford Performance, the Dodge Scat Pack, Plymouth’s Rapid Transit System and Chevy wanted to “Build a better way to see the U.S.A.”. Of course the they wanted to do it the fastest way possible so you could see more of it quicker. Numbers like 302,429, 426, 396 and 454 filled the minds of gear-heads and performance junkies, dreaming of getting their hands on the cars that carried these monster motors. Fifty years later we can get our hands on the HO scale version for our tracks at home! The Auto World ThunderJet release #28, (SC350) Class of 1970 will put these classics on your track and in your HO garage.

The 1970’s was a sweeping decade. Music evolved from folk and psychedelic to disco and punk. We got pet rocks, pop rocks and hard rock. 1970 brought in one of the last great runs of high performance cars that were unbridled and unrestrained. Auto World’s ThunderJet Release #28 (SC350) Class of 1970 brings some those classics to our HO scale world. Just open them up on the track, kick back with a little CCR or Led Zeppelin and turn some hot laps. Bell bottoms are completely optional!
