The original highway 66 was officially established on November 11, 1926. Starting in Chicago Illinois, “Route 66” ran through 8 states ending in Santa Monica California, covering 2,448 miles. Nicknamed the Mother Road, Route 66 was part of Americana and our unique motoring history of cross country travel. From songs to books (Route 66 appeared in Grapes of Wrath), the famous highway became a symbol of the freedom of travel, adventure and escape to new locales. Auto World’s latest race set, Route 66 Road Race (SRS325) captures that freedom of the road and adds a touch of racing adventure.
