A staple part of any road racing or Formula One scene has been the Dunlop Tire Bridge. SlotStructures takes on this most recognizable of racing scenic pieces. It is very well executed with attention to details in the pedestrian hand rails, lattice work under the “tire”, and the beams and bracing that span the sides of the bridge over the center of the structure. All SlotStructure offerings are laser cut and finished. The details on these buildings are also etched into the pieces giving texture and a full three dimensional depth.
Here you can see all of the detailed pieces, the etching and craftsmanship of design.
We will definitely take advantage of all these spectacular details when we
jump into the next article doing the finish work on these long awaited models. You can read that article here: Detailing the Slotstructures Tire Bridge.
Here’s the kit disassembled. It’s a good stage to see all the details this kit offers. The Dunlop script comes with the kit, but a for a nominal fee, SlotStructures will make a custom script for you. The bridge looks at home on 1/43rd scale tracks as well.
So as mentioned earlier, I have not glued or finished these new offering yet, so you could see them as they come from the manufacturer. All units are designed to accommodate rapid and square assembly and most parts fit tight enough to not need glue, though glue (or glue dots) and paint are always recommended. The kits are also scaled to modern 1/64th scale and not the smaller train scale of 1/87th (true HO) so they more readily accommodate modern HO race tracks and cars.
I will write additional articles on the detailed finishing of these kits, along with some suggestions on how to further add details, both scratch-built and purchased, ready to install (Click here to see the articles). Half the detail battle is won just by starting out with great kits like we have seen here from SlotBorders/SlotStructures.
