I’m really diggin’ the new Formula 1 cars that AFX has been releasing. The Sauber series of liveries starting with the Alfa Romeo cars and now the Kick Sauber, Stake sponsored cars are excellent in detail and layout. Now that AFX has released a 2024 livery, I know we are all waiting for that next license to be acquired. And for those that are not aware, it takes more effort in negotiation to get these licenses than it does to produce the tooling and tampos for the cars themselves. I’m wishing all the best to AFX to grow these offerings. We will take a closer look at these new releases and offer a little information on the Kick Sauber racing team these little beauties are based on.
#22091 AFX Kick Sauber Formula 1 Black-Lime #77 Stake – Valtteri Bottas
Valtteri Bottas’ last year racing with Kick Sauber was 2024. His best finish was 11th at Qatar.
#22092 AFX Kick Sauber Formula 1 Black-Lime #24 Stake – Zhou Guanyu
This was also Zhou Guanyu’s last year at Kick Sauber. His best finish was also at Qatar, in 8th place, collecting 4 points for the team.
Here’s the packaging for the 2024 AFX Kick Sauber F1 C44 Release
2024 brought a new chassis, the C44, to the Kick Sauber racing team, using Ferrari engines. It was virtually a completely new car only using some rear aero from the previous year’s C43. New colors in the livery were also in the mix. However, the results did come with the team only scoring 4 points over the season.
The Kick Sauber Formula 1 team will morph into the Audi works team in 2026. They made a big change in both drivers for the 2025 season with Bottas and Guanyu being replaced by Nico Hulkenberg and F2 leader, Gabriel Bortoleto. Below are the racing results from the 2024 season.
Here are a few more group shots of this new release.
