I was going to start this article covering the history of street racing and the adoption of Japanese cars as a racing platform and then … HEY!!! There’s a new body in this release! Forget all that gabbing about street racing, we have a new body to check out! And we have a good one in the 1973 Datsun 240Z! Small, light and low this one will be a great performer on the track and looks great to boot. And this is just the first release of the Datsun 240Z as a factory street version. Later this year we can look for the “racing version” with the covered headlights. Since we all look forward to new cars, I’ll jump straight into the picture section!

Here’s the packaging for the 2022 Auto World X-Traction Release 2 Import Heat (SC378)
I apologize for cutting the commentary short, but I was so excited to get the images of the new Datsun 240Z out there in front of everyone. I’ve been looking forward to this release since Auto World posted the teaser pictures last year. It is very nicely done, the lines look good and it will be a great addition to any hard-body racer’s pit box or a collectors display case. And let’s not overlook the other cars in this release. The graphics and overall work up of these slick Import Heat racers will add to anyone’s collection or race track. Look for these at your local hobby shop or your favorite web store in late May/June of 2022.
