The Greatest Hits…The term used for the best works, usually by a band or musician. A collection of outstanding efforts to produce something unique and special that stands out over time. Auto World’s new ThunderJet release number three (SC411) has a collection of what many consider some of their best bodies from the past. This release includes some of the old and new classics, some in new colors and some we’ve seen before and have a chance to add to our collections if we missed them the first time around. Let’s take a look at what’s in this new release.
#1A 1969 Chevy Nova SS – Butternut Yellow/Black
The 1968-1969 Chevy Nova body came out back in the Playing Mantis era. Original colors included orange and chrome blue. The first release to come under the Auto World banner was in 2011 with the ThunderJet “Flames” release number eight.
#1B 1969 Chevy Nova SS – Garnet Red/Black
#2A 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 – Grabber Orange
The 1970 Ford Mustang body came out back in the Playing Mantis era and included the Boss 429 and Boss 302 versions. Original colors included Calypso Coral and Black with Gold Boss stripes. The first release to come under the Auto World banner was in 2011 with the ThunderJet “Flames” release number eight.
#2B 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 – Grabber Green
#3A 1957 Chevy Bel Air – Black/Blue Flames
The 1957 Chevy Bel Air was first released as a street machine with a blower in the hood, in the Playing Mantis era. The stock hood version came out under the auto World banner in 2009. Original colors included Black with flames, Red with flames, two-tone aqua/white and dark blue with flames.
#3B 1957 Chevy Bel Air – Teal Metallic Custom
#4A 1972 Buick GS – Sea Mist Green/Black
The Buick GS and GSX body was first released in 2018 in release number 21 as the 1970 GSX in Saturn Yellow/Black and Glacier White/Black. Later releases under the GS model in 2022 included Silver Mist and Matador Red.
#4B 1972 Buick GS – Cortez Gold/Black
